as you may have noticed, it has been some time since my last post.
i'm now bored with my photo blog and with my point-and-shoot digicam.
that is why i have decided to stop adding posts in this photoblog.

btw, i have now upgraded cameras.
i have just purchased a canon eos 400d. woohoo! [grin]
i got tired of my old digicam's limitations.

back from the beach...
man, boracay was jam-packed.
this is the 2nd time i've been here and i didn't realize the place could get so full.
the sun was hot (and it still is) but the water was cool.
we also spent some time looking for celebrities.
we saw bamboo, epi quizon, katrina halili, aliyah parcs, richard gomez and lucy torres, vanna garcia, maui taylor, jinky of freestyle, aiza marquez, and ara mina.

the first photo is of our basketball group.
every thursday, our group meet for 3 to 4 games of basketball.
there are only 14 players in the photo but sometimes 20 or more players arrive.
this all started because of an invitation from bidz, a good friend from college, to play with their group. (see my previous post on this)
after some games with them, some college friends, some of joanne's officemates, and i decided to meet up regularly for basketball.
wow... come to think of it, i believe it's been almost a year since we started this weekly basketball group.
at first, it was only my college barkada and joanne's officemates who played.
eventually, some celebrities joined us courtesy of bidz.
some of these are vhong navarro, drew arellano, bayani agbayani, john pratts, jhong hilario, and ketchup eusebio.

speaking of celebrites, i am inviting you to a special night at tgi friday's at glorietta 3, makati on may 7, 2006. (see 2nd photo).
celebrities will be the ones to serve you on this night.

this is a lovely restaurant located near the beach.
it is actually a resort with the beach at one side and this restaurant at the other.
cabins are also available for overnight stay.

i went to a children's party yesterday.

this flower is called the zinnia.
i found them in our sideyard.
of course i really didn't know what they're called at first.
i just asked my mom about them.
you can find a previous post for this flower here.
the zinnia belongs to the daisy family and has different varieties.
the ones above belong to the pinwheel series.
btw, the title of this post is what zinnia means (as i saw on the web).

this is an insect i discovered among some plants in our backyard.
i haven't seen any bug like this before.
kinda weird-looking...
anyway, i used photoshop to do the colored subject against b&w background effect.
i saw some pics of this in the net and just wanted to try it out.

jnne and i had dinner last night at greenbelt 3.
on our way to the parking, we stopped by the beautiful fountain area near seattle's best.
it was hard to take these photos because of the low light.
special thanks to jnne for helping me steady my shots. [grin]
coincidently, we ran into my highschool friend, migs.
actually, he was playing the guitar with a group when we saw him.
they were providing the music for the restaurant next to the one where we ate.
migs is one talented guy...
aside from playing the guitar well, he also draws, sketches, and paints very well.

this is one of my early shots... it was when my digicam was fairly new but i had nothing good to take photos of.
currently, i don't have that much time to go around taking photos since the past few weeks have been very stressful due to work.

fireworks are so hard to get on photo.
at least it is for me...
to get a good shot, i have to set the digicam on slow shutter speed.
taking photos in this mode is hard since i don't have a tripod.
also, the lightshow doesn't last very long, so you must have great timing to get the best shots since the chances would be limited.
the photo above is one of only two photos i was able to get from the fireworks display we saw in intramuros.
i am not quite satisfied with the shot.
i haven't been able to get another chance to shoot fireworks, though.
for a spectacular fireworks photo, you have to check out jake's luneta shot.

i've been meaning to take this photo ever since i got my digicam.
if in case you don't know or don't recognize this place, it's the road along the melchor hall (i.e. college of engineering) in UP diliman.
however, you won't see much of the engineering building from this shot.
the national engineering center can be partially seen on the right while the main library is hidden on the left.
for me, this road, with all the overlooking trees on the sides, paints an image that signifies one's journey toward the future.
looking down this road is sort of analogous to looking ahead towards the future and facing what lies ahead.

taken during our hs gradball...
it was a time wherein mixed emotions ruled most of my batchmates, myself included.
we were excited to face the next big step in our lives... the real world, as they say (although technically, college life is just a glimpse of the real world).
at the same time, we were sad that we had to leave behind the happy memories and the close friends we made in high school.
sure... we didn't really leave them behind... but the viewpoint from that time is so much different from that of the present.
if i could relive that time, i would probably be more spontaneous and less worrisome.
i would get to know my batchmates more and be a better friend.
i would worry less about what people thought and expected of me and just be myself.
hmmm... it seems i'm getting too nostalgic here. hehehe.
anyway, i was the most dressed-down person in our group during our gradball.
i just didn't feel sprucing up that much at that time. hehe.

i saw some fire trees while i was on the road this past weekend.
the scenery wasn't as spectacular as i would have imagined it to be.
still, these trees were lovely.
the second photo is the same as the first only zoomed out a bit.
i also applied a smudge stick filter using photoshop to give it a painted feel.

colorful trees seem to be abundant this summer.
it's funny because i never seemed to noticed them before.
the only tree that always caught my attention was the fire tree.
its splendor was always a great thing to behold.
i'll capture a great shot of some fire trees before the summer is over.

i don't exactly know what this tree is called but it obviously isn't a fire tree. [grin]

we visited some friends and relatives and i became the official photographer.
one photo i took was of them and a close family friend.
we all laughed when we saw this photo because we didn't realize that there was a clown present.

this was in alabang town center during our lunchbreak.
i wanted to do a stitched view like this PHOTO but i couldn't quite get the right shots.
a lot of passers-by also made it hard to get the shots i wanted.
there was even an annoying man who kept on passing by despite seeing me with a camera waiting for everyone to get out of the way. [whew!]
i had to give up since lunchbreak was almost over.
